Does Medicare cover dental treatment?
Medicare generally does not cover dental treatment but with the Australian Government offering dental treatment up to the value of $1000 over a two year period for each eligible child, Richmond Road Dental is offering no out of pocket expense for all preventative treatment through the Medicare Child Dental Benefit Scheme.
BULK BILLED TREATMENT includes
- Checkups and cleans
- Fluoride treatments
- Fissure sealants
- Some fillings
In the event that further treatment is required this may also be bulk billed, or a co-payment required, depending on the nature of the work. Any treatment required for the child would be discussed in detail at the initial appointment.
For further information and to check availability for the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme, call our receptionist and have your Medicare card on hand when you call.
Does your practice treat public patients?
People on the waiting list for public dental treatment may be offered a voucher to be used at a private practice. Richmond Road Dental has an agreement with Metro South Oral Health Services and honours government vouchers. Vouchers provided by MSHOHS are either to the value of $260 for emergency treatment or $750 for general dental services. To be eligible you must be a Queensland resident and hold a pensioner concession card or health care card.
Are you a preferred provider and what are health fund provider schemes?
These schemes with the major health funds allow patients to see dentists “recommended” by the health funds to receive dental treatment with lower out of pocket expenses once services have been claimed. These dentists, often described as “preferred providers” or “member care dentists”, have entered a financial agreement with the funds which in turn provides them with a constant flow of health fund directed patients. The arrangement is not based upon the quality of services that the dentist actually provides, it is purely a business agreement between the fund and participating dentists.
Our practice philosophy is to provide our patients with the highest quality dental care possible. This takes time, state of the art dental materials and equipment, attention to current infection control procedures, adequate staffing to care for our patients and continual professional development. It is impossible to deliver the level of care we wish to provide to our valued patients under contractual health fund provider schemes, in which the funds set fees at levels inadequate for the delivery of high quality dental care.
We treat members of all health funds and we have the Hicaps system which means we can claim on the spot for you eliminating the need to submit your receipts for rebate. For more information of Preferred Providers click on the link below.
The dental Wand is a computerised anaesthetic delivery system. Because the flow rate of the anaesthetic is controlled by the computer the injection is slow and steady and therefore comfortable. Some people who fear needles call it the magic wand!
For patients who are anxious about a trip to the dentist we offer nitrous oxide or “happy gas” which can promote a feeling of calm and sense of relaxation.
